Photographs and Video Content:
Photos / videos may be taken under both natural and artificial light.
Opal is notoriously difficult to photograph, and may look different under different conditions (such as being brighter and more colourful under full sun light, but less so under normal indoor lighting conditions)
Opal Care:
Opal is a relatively soft stone with a similar hardness to glass, it can chip, scratch, crack, fracture, or break easily
It is important to remove your opal jewellery before engaging in any activity which may bring the item into contact with a hard surface, or any chemicals (bleach, cleaning chemicals etc.) as this may damage it
Opal can crack if it’s exposed to extreme or rapidly changing temperatures or humidity
Opal should also not be cleaned using ultra-sonic cleaners as the vibrations may cause the stone to fracture.
For the long term storing of solid opals, it is often recommended to place the jewellery in a sealed plastic bag containing cotton wool with a few drops of water added, this will reduce the chance of the stone cracking due to low humidity.
Unlike solid opals, if you have purchased a doublet or triplet opal, you should also avoid getting the item wet, as this can lead to the adhesive failing.
